How do I open PastePaw?
Press ⌘⇧V on your keyboard. You can customize this hotkey in the app's Settings.
Can AI tools read my clipboard history?
Only if you turn it on. PastePaw includes a local MCP server that is off by default, and it runs entirely on your Mac — nothing is opened up to the internet. Every AI tool you connect gets its own token with the permissions you choose — read, write, delete, and exactly which collections it can see. Secure collections are never exposed, delete stays off unless you grant it, and every clip a tool searches, reads, saves, moves, or deletes — plus anything it was denied — is written to an access log you can review or clear at any time.
Is my clipboard data secure?
Yes. Your clipboard history is stored locally on your Mac, in a SQLite database inside the app's sandbox — nothing is sent to any server or cloud service. The history database itself is not encrypted, so for anything sensitive use a Secure Collection: those clips are encrypted on your Mac and unlock with Touch ID. Can I exclude certain apps from being recorded?
Yes! Go to Settings → Ignored Applications and add any apps you want to exclude (like password managers or banking apps). PastePaw will not record clipboard content from these apps.
How do I delete my clipboard history?
You can delete individual items by selecting them and pressing ⌫, or clear all history from Settings → Clear All History.
Does PastePaw work on Apple Silicon Macs?
Yes! PastePaw is built as a Universal Binary and runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs (M1/M2/M3/M4).

System Requirements

  • macOS Version: macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later
  • Architecture: Intel and Apple Silicon (Universal Binary)
  • Disk Space: ~30 MB for the app
  • Memory: Minimal RAM usage (~50-100 MB)

Getting Started

  1. Download PastePaw from the Mac App Store
  2. Install the app from the App Store, then open PastePaw from Applications or Launchpad
  3. Launch PastePaw and, when prompted, grant the system Accessibility / post-event permission so auto-paste can send ⌘V on your behalf
  4. Press ⌘⇧V to open your history and start copying!
